NoBite All-Natural Mosquito & Insect Repellent from Oasis Advanced Wellness is one of the most powerful and effective natural protection products against mosquitoes and other insects. NoBite is one of the only products that contain the four most researched and effective all-natural ingredients in repelling mosquitos and insects: Neem Oil, Karanja Oil, Catnip Oil and Lemon Eucalyptus Oil.
How does this product work? Mosquitoes have special censors on their bodies (like little hairs) that catch carbon dioxide molecules which enables them to smell you. When you spray yourself with NoBite they smell a plant instead of an animal or human, so they are not interested and pass you by!
According to Deborah Taylor-Hough: Natural insect repellents tend to provide coverage for a shorter time, but their coverage is safer so you may find it worth the extra effort applying a bit more often. Because of their shorter protection time, natural repellents are ideal for short evening outdoor activities like walking the dog, barbequing, or watering the garden.
Catnip Oil (nepetalactone) Research Information: CHICAGO, August 27, 2001 – American Chemical Society, Scientific American Review – “Researchers report that nepetalactone, the essential oil in catnip that gives the plant its characteristic odor, is about ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET – the compound used in most commercial insect repellents. The finding was reported at the 222nd national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the worlds largest scientific society, by the same Iowa State University research group that two years ago discovered that catnip also repels cockroaches. Entomologist Chris Peterson, Ph.D., with Joel Coats, Ph.D., and chair of the universitys entomology department, led the effort to test catnips ability to repel mosquitoes. Peterson, a former post-doctoral research associate at the school, is now with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Wood Products Insects Research Unit, in Starkville, Miss.
Peterson says nepetalactone is about 10 times more effective than DEET because it takes about one-tenth as much nepetalactone as DEET to have the same effect. Most commercial insect repellents contain about 5 percent to 25 percent DEET. Presumably, much less catnip oil would be needed in a formulation to have the same level of repellency as a DEET-based repellent” WITHOUT the dangerous side effects of DEET.
Karanja Oil – A truly useful plant, the beautiful karanja has been valued for many centuries in its native India. Now grown widely throughout the Indian subcontinent, it is also found in Australia, Florida, Viet Nam, Hawaii, Malaysia, Oceania, Philippines, and Seychelles. Remarkably adaptable, this tree can grow in a variety of ecologies, and can even tolerate limestone and rooting in salt water. Karanja oil is cold pressed from seeds. The oil is reddish brown and rather viscous and non-edible. What makes the karanja oil so valuable, though, is its insecticidal and antiseptic qualities. In Ayurvedic and folk medicines the oil is used the oil for biliousness, eye ailments, itch, leucoderma, rheumatism, skin diseases, worms, and wounds.
Lemon Eucalyptus – Eucalyptus Citriodora contains up to 90% citronellal along with geraniol. Lemon eucalyptus, in addition to DEET and Picaridin, has been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for effective protection against mosquitoes that may carry the West Nile virus. Lemon Eucalyptus Oil has been proven to be as effective as DEET without the unpleasantness of putting chemicals on the skin.
Neem Oil – The insecticidal qualities of neem oil are well known. The main active ingredient in neem is azadirachtin. It is responsible for repelling as well as limiting the pupation and reproductive abilities of many insects.
According to Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 3rd Edition by Phyllis Balch and James F. Balch, M.D.
Citronella Oil and Lavender Oil will provide 30-60 minutes of protection.
Catnip Oil repels insects about 10 times more effectively than DEET.
Rosemary, Lemongrass, Geranium and Cedarwood are very effective natural insect repellents.
Ways to Prevent Bug Bites
In addition to applying mosquito repellent, people should take the following precautions to guard against mosquitoes and other bug bites:
- Stay indoors at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
- Use screens on doors and windows to keep mosquitoes from entering your home.
- Adults should apply a natural repellent to children. B-Complex vitamins , ultrasonic devices, or daily consumption of fresh, organic garlic may help.
- Be sure to eliminate mosquito-breeding areas around your home by removing standing water from gutters, old tires, wading pools, tarps, potted plants, and other outside buckets and pails.
- Change water in birdbaths at least weekly.
- Also, be sure the water in pet dishes and birdbaths is changed regularly.
- Encourage natural predators such as birds, bats, and yellowjackets.
- Treat standing water which cannot be drained with Bacillus thuringiensis israeliensis (Bti), often sold as Mosquito Dunks.

Application Instructions: Shake well before use, apply liberally. Re-apply often depending on conditions–usually every 30 minutes to one hour. Spray on arms, legs and any exposed areas or areas vulnerable to bites. Mosquitoes will bit through socks and loose weave clothing that is in direct contact with skin surface – so application may be required under these clothes. For application to face and head, spray into hands and rub on face and neck areas needing protection. Store in a cool, dark place. Shelf life is approximately 6-8 months. If stored in the refrigerator allow time for the product to be able to be thoroughly mixed before use. Refirgeration may prolong shelf life.
Please take note: This product is not an insecticide or pesticide, it will not kill insects but it will prevent them from biting you when applied as directed.
Usage Warning: For external use only. Do not ingest or take internally. Do not spray directly in face or eyes. May cause excitability if used on cats. Adults should always apply product to children.
The essential oils and herbs used to prepare our products are organically produced (1) without the use of fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, or they are Wildcrafted (2) in their natural wild habitat. These herbs are never funigated or irradiated.
Packaged in glass bottles: OAW products that contain essential oils are packaged in glass bottles. Our essential oils come from all over the world and are of the highest quality available. We do not use plastic bottles because of the possibility of chemical reactions that may take place when the oils come in contact with plastic. Because we care about the purity of our product and the total health of our customers, we choose to pay extra for packaging that will ensure that you are protected. If you are concerned about breakage when using and transporting NoBite, we suggest wrapping a small amount of bubble wrap around the glass portion of the bottle.
Important Note: NoBite is made with natural oils and wellness water. Oil and water do not mix so the bottle must be shaken vigorously before spraying and you should stop to shake it again while spraying. We do not use an emulsifier as we believe that this may be the reason that some natural insect repellents do not work effectively in that the emulsifiers may inhibit some of the effectiveness of essential oils. Spray well on your body and clothes, spray it in your hand to cover your face and neck. Dont open the bottle and pour some in your hand to get it on faster because you will pour all the oil out as it is on top of the water and what remains in the bottle is to weak and will not work again. And remember the spray works for mosquitoes and some other insects, but not all. The same is true with DEET. We have added rosemary oil to help with other insects. It is not poisonous, but DO NOT under any circumstances drink it or spray it in the mouth as an allergic reaction could occur. Essential oils are very strong and could cause severe stomach ache if a large amount is ingested.
